“After Doing It For 30 Minutes, Dr Spire Started Struggling To Breath, I Then Took Off But Returned Again For A Body Spray He Gifted Me” Eva Mbabazi Breaks Another Silence

The sudden and mysterious death of Dr. Spire Kiggundu, a prominent gynaecologist and owner of Henrob Hospital, has sent shockwaves through Kampala. After weeks of investigation, authorities have made a significant breakthrough following the interrogation of Eva Mbabazi — a young woman believed to have been the last person seen with the doctor before his untimely demise.
According to police, Eva, a reserved and soft-spoken woman, first met Dr. Kiggundu in 2018 when she accompanied her ailing sister to Henrob Hospital. What began as a casual acquaintance gradually evolved into a secret romantic relationship, despite the doctor being married. Their affair remained under wraps — until the tragic events of June 22 unraveled it all.
That night, Eva recounted, she met Dr. Kiggundu at a guest house where he had earlier checked in alone. Inside the room, she noticed two bottles of water, some juice, and two unused HIV testing kits — but no condoms, which she found unusual. Despite this, the two spent approximately 30 minutes together, which she described as a “love marathon.”
Shortly afterward, things took a grim turn. Dr. Kiggundu began experiencing difficulty breathing. Eva initially suspected he was having an epileptic episode — known locally as ensimbu — and stayed with him, hoping he would recover. But when his condition worsened, panic set in. She fled the room in fear, only to return moments later to retrieve a bottle of perfume he had gifted her. By then, she found him lying unresponsive.
Terrified, Eva left again and took a bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) home. Along the way, she attempted to call the doctor, but he never answered. Later, police confirmed through CCTV footage and mobile phone data that Eva was indeed the last known person to see him alive.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed Eva’s arrest in Seeta, Mukono District. She is currently being held at Kajjansi Police Station as investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances surrounding Dr. Kiggundu’s death.
As the public awaits the results of a full autopsy and official police report, the incident remains shrouded in mystery. What began as a private affair has now become a public tragedy — casting a long shadow over Kampala’s medical community and stirring intense public curiosity.
