Unbelievable!! Here’s The Former Makerere Guild Aspirant Who Had Only One Suit, One Poster In The Race , The Story Of Obbo Johnson ‘The Hammer’
In the heart of Makerere University, amidst the fervent buzz of aspiring leaders, there stood a determined figure named Obbo Johnson. With only one worn brown suit to his name, he embarked on his journey to become the guild aspirant about 9 years ago.
Obbo’s resourcefulness knew no bounds. Despite his limited wardrobe, he ingeniously cycled through an array of shirts and ties, always presenting himself with an air of dignity and purpose. But it was his solitary poster that truly defined his campaign.
Each morning, as dawn painted the campus, Obbo would rise from his humble abode in Lumumba Hall. With unwavering dedication, he’d stride to the tree outside his hall , pinning his poster with care. And as the sun dipped below the horizon, he’d retrieve it, safeguarding it for another day of campaigning.
Yet fate, like the rainclouds that often loomed over Makerere, had a way of testing Obbo’s resolve. On one fateful afternoon, as the heavens unleashed their torrents, Obbo dashed from a lecture hall to rescue his cherished poster. But the slick pavement betrayed him, and he tumbled to the ground, his suit sodden and spirits dampened.Despite the setback, Obbo refused to yield.
“He fell at St Augustine and got injuries as he was running to go to the Lumumba hall tree and remove his poster to prevent it from getting destroyed by the rain. Everyone was shocked by how a guild aspirant known as the hammer could fall running to save a poster of just 500 Shs” Rasta DPC, An Ancestor Of Lumumba Hall Narrated To This Site
With unwavering determination, he pressed on, his singular poster a beacon of hope amid the storm. Despite his valiant efforts and unwavering dedication, Obbo Johnson’s bid for the guild presidency ended in disappointment.
When the final tally was counted, he garnered less than 100 votes, a stark reminder of the uphill battle he faced against more established candidates. However, defeat did not extinguish Obbo’s passion for student politics.
Nine years later, long after his days at Makerere University had passed, Obbo has remained a steadfast presence in the student political scene. Though no longer a student himself, he has continued to mentor and support aspiring leaders, sharing his wisdom and experience with a new generation of hopefuls.
“Obbo is now a big man , he always at Parliament meeting MPs and convincing them to fund his ghost projects , he has proposals of ghost projects which he uses to fraud money from MPs” The Source at Parliament told this site.
Obbo’s journey serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Despite setbacks and setbacks, he persisted, driven by a fervent belief in the power of grassroots activism and the importance of representation. And while he may not have achieved victory in his own campaign, his legacy actually lives on in the countless individuals he inspired to stand up and make their voices heard.
In the end, Obbo Johnson’s story is not just one of defeat, but of resilience, perseverance, and the enduring impact of a single individual’s unwavering commitment to a cause greater than themselves.
