Uganda Police Recruit Arrested After Police Sniffer Dog Traces Stolen Money In His Jacket
A recruit at the Police Training School in Kabalye has been arrested after a police sniffer dog traced shs1.3 million that had gone missing to his jacket.
The suspect only identified as Probation Police Constable Ocaya was arrested after Shs1.3 million went missing at Kabalye and a sniffer dog was introduced to help trace the suspect behind the theft.
“When the dog was introduced, it led detectives behind the dormitory where the money was found hidden in a black jacket belonging to Ocaya,” a source told the Nile Post.
The suspect had stuffed the jacket with the money in a bucket. But the discovery appears to have nipped one potential criminal in the law enforcement in the bud.The scenes of crime officer who recovered the money counted it in front of instructors and other witnesses.
A case has been registered under SD/Ref: 02/16/09/2024 at the Kabalye Police Training School quarter guard post.The development underscores the role of police dogs in fighting crime.
Police recently said their sniffer dogs had helped the law and law enforcement body arrest 4,289 suspected criminals in three months.Canine is one of the specialised units of the Police Force that supports other police departments and units to prevent, detect, and investigate crime.
This is done through the use of specifically bred service dogs, which undergo extensive training that enables them to assist their human partners or handlers with a variety of tasks.
