State Minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Balaam Barugahara, has taken a firm stance against promoting artists involved in gangs or violent behavior. This decision follows a recent altercation between singers Alien Skin and Pallaso, which spotlighted the escalating issue of violence within the music industry.

Balaam announced his decision on the social media platform X, emphasizing the urgent need for change. He expressed concern over the growing influence of gang-related violence on artists and their communities. “Gang violence is spiraling out of control, and it’s time for decisive action,” he stated, urging those who enable such behavior to take accountability for its damaging effects.

Effective immediately, Balaam’s agency will no longer book or promote any artists associated with violence. Violators will face strict consequences, including a six-month ban from his events. Additionally, they must demonstrate a willingness to change before being reconsidered for future opportunities.

This initiative aims to go beyond setting boundaries. Balaam is calling on other promoters and event organizers to join him in fostering a safer, more respectful environment in the arts. He believes collective efforts can restore discipline and decency to the music scene.

Balaam’s commitment to prioritizing peace over violence marks a significant step toward improving the atmosphere within the industry. His leadership could inspire others to adopt similar measures, contributing to a healthier, more harmonious creative community.
