Top Story!! Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya Would Still Be Alive If This Was Done, See Full Story

The death of Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya has provoked strong emotional reactions, particularly reflecting on the suffering he endured in his final years. Many Ugandans believe that had Ssegirinya been granted bail earlier, his health might not have deteriorated so severely, as the delay in his release worsened his condition.
Jim Spire Ssentongo, a close ally of Ssegirinya, expressed his frustration and sorrow on social media, highlighting the tragic irony of the situation. Ssentongo pointed out that those who had once mocked Ssegirinya’s illness and denied him timely medical care were now offering condolences following his death.
Ssegirinya’s struggle for his life was marked by neglect and ridicule. Despite urgently calling for medical attention, he was kept in prolonged detention without clear charges, which only aggravated his health. His mother, devastated by the suffering her son endured, even appealed to Parliament for justice and proper medical care.
However, Ssentongo remarked that her plea was met with indifference, and the only response was financial compensation rather than the justice the family had desperately sought.
The politician’s death has drawn attention to the harsh realities of Uganda’s political and legal systems, where individuals like Ssegirinya, who fought for justice, are subjected to inhumane treatment. Ssentongo’s heartfelt message calls for Ugandans to reflect on the true meaning of happiness and justice, urging people to look beyond their divisions.
He emphasized that peace and happiness cannot be achieved at the expense of another’s suffering. As Ssegirinya’s soul rests, many are left questioning whether his death could have been prevented and what changes need to be made to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
