Top Story!! Inside Museveni’s Multi Billion Luxurious Helicopter That Transports Him Within The Country

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda travels domestically in a customized Mil Mi-171E helicopter, delivered in early 2016. This VIP aircraft is designed for maximum comfort and utility, featuring a cloakroom, snack bar, bathroom, luggage compartment, and seating for up to 12 passengers.
The helicopter’s interior is tailored to ensure the President can travel comfortably while remaining functional. Modern communication systems onboard allow him to stay connected and make critical decisions during flights. The design also incorporates elements reflecting Uganda’s national identity, including colors and insignia.
In April 2023, Museveni inaugurated the first locally overhauled and upgraded Mi-24 helicopter at the Nakasongola Airbase. This milestone was achieved through a partnership with Pro Heli International Services Limited. By performing maintenance locally, Uganda is set to save over $2 million per helicopter, a cost typically incurred for overseas servicing.
While the helicopter enhances the President’s mobility across Uganda’s challenging terrain, its acquisition and upkeep have sparked public debate. Many have questioned government spending priorities, emphasizing the need to balance efficient presidential transport with addressing pressing national issues.
This dual narrative of progress and fiscal responsibility continues to shape public discourse in Uganda.
