“Anyone Who Writes “RIP” For Me Would Have Done Injustice To Me” Last Words Of Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya Before Death

The late Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, has left behind a powerful and defiant message that continues to inspire his supporters even after his passing. Known as “Mr. Updates,” Ssegirinya succumbed to health complications on Thursday at Lubaga Hospital, following a prolonged battle with illness. His death has created a significant gap in Ugandan politics, yet his final words have ignited a call for resilience and continued action.
In a poignant video recorded before his death, Ssegirinya rejected the traditional mourning phrase “Rest in Peace,” urging his followers not to use it in reference to him. He explained, “Anyone who writes ‘Rest in Peace’ for me would have done injustice to me. How can you say ‘Rest in Peace’ when they have killed me? It is not possible.”
Rather than mourning his loss, Ssegirinya urged his supporters to carry forward his legacy of activism and persistence. In his message, he emphasized the importance of continuing the struggle he had dedicated his life to. “Fight hard, Mr. Updates,” he instructed, reinforcing the need to keep up the fight he had championed throughout his political career.
