FRESH DETAILS EMERGE!! How Senior Prosecutor Fatuma Nabiwemba Was Found Dead After Days Of Missing
A wave of grief has swept through the legal community and residents of Wakiso District following the sudden and tragic death of Fatuma Bbuye Nabiwemba, a Senior State Attorney and Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The 47-year-old was discovered dead in her home in Wampeewo, Kasangati Town Council, on the evening of Thursday, July 10, several days after she was last seen.

Fatuma had been absent from work since Monday, July 7, prompting concern among colleagues and neighbors. A disturbing odor and the presence of flies around her residence led locals to investigate further. With the help of Hamuza Kabanda, a driver from the DPP’s office, neighbors forced entry into the house, where they tragically found her unresponsive on her bed.
Police responded swiftly and confirmed that there were no visible injuries on her body, raising questions about the cause of death. Detectives from Kasangati Police Station conducted a search of the premises and collected several items for investigation. Among them was a document from Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital, indicating that Fatuma had been receiving mental health treatment.
Her unexplained absence had already alarmed her colleagues at the DPP’s office, and now her family and coworkers await the results of a postmortem examination being conducted at Mulago City Mortuary to determine the exact cause of death.
Fatuma’s story is marked by both professional dedication and personal tragedy. Years ago, she lost her infant child at just two and a half months old—a loss that had a profound and lasting effect on her mental health. In an earlier interview, her husband, Dr. Ibrahim Sendagire, who was abroad at the time, shared that he never got to meet their child before its passing—a sorrow that weighed heavily on them both.
In an official statement, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirmed her death and expressed deep condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. They noted that funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
As investigations continue, Fatuma’s untimely death underscores the often invisible burden of mental health struggles. Her passing is not only a significant loss to Uganda’s justice system but also a poignant reminder of the emotional battles many face in silence.
