“My Son’s Dead Body Had A Missing Eye” Gilbert Bukenya Painfully Recalls, Reveals Shocking Things That Happened When His Son Died
The tragic death of Bryan Bukenya, son of former Ugandan Vice President Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya, has left the family and the public in shock, as disturbing details emerge about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Bryan, a 26-year-old lawyer, died on the Mityana-Kampala road in a crash that many now question. Gilbert Bukenya, devastated by the loss, has raised serious concerns that his son’s death may not have been accidental.
According to Gilbert, there were unusual and alarming aspects when Bryan’s body was returned to the family. Most shocking was the fact that Bryan’s body was missing an eye. This detail has led the former Vice President to suspect that the accident could have been staged to cover up a potential murder. “Ministers cannot make decisions on salary enhancements as they are just placeholders. We want to meet the president directly to find a solution,” he emphasized.
Gilbert revealed that despite repeated requests, he has never seen the postmortem report. Even the doctor who conducted the examination refused to share information. “I was repeatedly told to wait, but no answers ever came,” he said, expressing frustration over the lack of transparency. The missing eye, combined with unanswered questions, has intensified his grief and suspicion that the full truth is being hidden from the family.
The crash occurred when Bryan and five others were traveling from Kabamba Military School to Kampala. Their vehicle overturned at Bira Trading Centre, about 13 kilometers from Kampala. While the accident initially appeared tragic but ordinary, Gilbert questioned the handling of the vehicle afterward, noting that it was moved between different garages under unclear circumstances.
Bryan was at the beginning of a promising career. He was completing a cadet officers’ course at Kabamba Military School and had a three-month-old daughter. His untimely death left a deep void in the family and deprived his young daughter of a father. Bryan had a distinguished academic background, having attended St. Savio Junior Primary School, St. Mary’s College Kisubi, King’s College Budo, and Coventry University in the United Kingdom, where he earned his law degree. Upon returning to Uganda, he completed his clerkship at the Court Martial and was encouraged to join the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to serve as a legal professional.
Despite the passage of time, Gilbert Bukenya continues his search for answers. The missing eye, the restricted postmortem report, and the circumstances surrounding the crash have left lingering questions. As the family grapples with their grief, the hope remains that the truth about Bryan Bukenya’s death will one day be revealed and justice served.
