OH NO!! Don Chris Job Fraud Scandal Deepens As Number Of Victims Scammed Increases from 85 To 350
The number of Ugandans defrauded by a man known as Don Chris has surged, with over 350 people now confirmed as victims in a major job scam that has devastated families across the country. What began with 85 reported cases has rapidly expanded, highlighting the scale and seriousness of the fraud.
The suspect, identified as Asiimwe Christian—also known as Don Chris—operated a travel agency called Skypins Tours and Travel. He allegedly lured job seekers with promises of employment opportunities abroad, demanding payments ranging from 3.5 million to 10 million Ugandan shillings per person. Driven by the dream of a better life, many people handed over their savings, only to be left with nothing.
The promised jobs never materialized. Eventually, the company’s offices were abandoned, and Don Chris vanished. According to police estimates, the total amount of money lost in the scam is approximately 1.75 billion shillings.
A formal investigation was launched on June 17, 2025, and on July 10, authorities searched the Skypins office in Kitende. While the suspect had already fled, police recovered documents and other evidence that may aid in tracking him down.
Don Chris is now officially wanted by the police, who are urging members of the public to share any information about his whereabouts. They are also calling on additional victims who haven’t yet come forward to report their cases, emphasizing that a stronger case can be built with more testimonies.
This deeply troubling incident serves as a stark warning to Ugandans to exercise extreme caution when dealing with agencies offering overseas job placements. While the dream of working abroad remains strong for many, it is also being exploited by scammers preying on vulnerable citizens.
Law enforcement agencies continue to pursue justice, and the victims—many of whom lost their life savings—are hoping that Don Chris will soon be found and held accountable for his actions.
