Eva Mbabazi, the 31-year-old woman last seen with the late Dr. Spire Kiggundu — the well-known founder of Hebron Schools — has been officially cleared of any involvement in his unexpected death. Following a thorough police investigation, authorities confirmed there is no evidence linking Eva to the tragic incident.

Her arrest in Mukono earlier this week drew significant public attention and widespread speculation. However, after extensive questioning and a careful review of the evidence, investigators concluded that Eva had no role in Dr. Spire’s death.

In her statement to police, Eva admitted that she had spent some private time with Dr. Spire on the day of the incident. Roughly 30 minutes into their meeting, she said, he suddenly collapsed. Frightened and overwhelmed, Eva panicked and fled the scene without alerting authorities, fearing she would be blamed for his death.

She also emphasized that she did not take any of the doctor’s money or possessions. The only item she left with, she said, was a bottle of perfume he had gifted her earlier. Investigators later confirmed that nothing had been stolen from the scene — including cash in U.S. dollars and other valuables — lending credibility to her account.

Eva revealed that she and Dr. Spire had maintained a private relationship for nearly seven years. This revelation has reportedly caused deep distress to the late doctor’s family, particularly his widow, who is said to be grappling with the emotional fallout of the affair.

The police have formally announced that Eva will not face any charges and commended her for eventually cooperating with the investigation. They also urged the public to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors that could damage the reputations of innocent individuals.

While the precise cause of Dr. Spire’s death remains under investigation, initial findings suggest it may have been health-related. As the community continues to process the loss of a respected educator, the incident has prompted reflection on the complexities of his personal life and the emotional weight now borne by his family.
