“Stop Bragging That You Saved Me, You Only Succumbed To The Pressure From Ugandans” Bobi Wine Fires Back At Owiny Dollo

Robert Kayagulanyi Ssentamu, commonly known as Bobi Wine, the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has responded to Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo’s recent statement about the fairness of Uganda’s judicial system.
Owiny-Dollo had cited Bobi Wine’s 2021 bail as an example of the judiciary’s impartiality, suggesting it demonstrated justice in action. However, Bobi Wine disagreed with this assessment, asserting that the judicial system did not favor him, despite being granted bail.
In a tweet, Bobi Wine criticized the Chief Justice, saying, “Mr. Owiny-Dollo, you abused your position and influence to deny Ugandans justice in the petition we filed at the Supreme Court challenging Museveni’s rigging of the 2021 election. You went even further to target and persecute the only judge who questioned your illegal orders until she had to flee the country for her safety.”
He continued, “You claim that the judiciary you lead ‘saved me’ when granting me bail, which allowed us to resume our presidential campaigns, but that is far from the truth. The real story is that the immense pressure from Ugandans forced the regime to release us. This was similar to what happened in 2018, when the courts had no choice but to free us.”
