The marriage between Sandra Teta and her husband, renowned musician Weasel (Douglas Mayanja), has taken a dramatic and troubling turn following a violent altercation that left Weasel with a broken leg. New details have emerged, revealing a relationship fraught with tension, abuse, and escalating conflict that ultimately culminated in this shocking incident.

The trouble began earlier that day when Weasel, seemingly at his breaking point, threw Sandra’s belongings out of their home. He then gave her sh30,000 for transport, telling her to leave and go wherever she wished. Already distressed and reportedly under the influence of alcohol, Sandra reached a breaking point. This moment was the culmination of months, if not years, of domestic strife in their marriage.

Later, Sandra appeared at Shanz Bar, where Weasel was drinking with friends. In an emotional confrontation, she physically attacked him, causing a serious injury—a broken right leg. Weasel was rushed first to a local health center and then transferred to St. Francis Nsambya Hospital, where doctors confirmed he would require surgery to repair the fracture.

Sandra told her in-laws that the day started with Weasel expelling her from their home and giving her money to leave. She admitted to being partially intoxicated during the confrontation but emphasized that the deeper issue lay in the deteriorating state of their relationship. Sandra had recently been sent to Rwanda by relatives to recover after a severe beating from Weasel left her face swollen and bruised. Despite this, she returned to his home, where tensions flared again, leading to the violent clash at Shanz Bar.

Their altercation was not just physical but underscored the emotional and psychological breakdown of their relationship. Sandra’s family had previously intervened, taking her away to seek refuge and heal from Weasel’s abusive behavior. Yet, her commitment to her children and hope of preserving the family kept her tied to the marriage, even as violence escalated.

In a surprising move, Weasel appealed to the police for Sandra’s release, expressing hope that she could return home to care for their two children. However, Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that criminal charges had been filed against Sandra under Kabalagala police file No. SD: 04/07/08/2025. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is currently reviewing the case to decide on possible legal action.

At Kabalagala police station, relatives from both sides met and agreed to release Sandra on police bond. Her family emphasized the long history of abuse she endured, pointing to the visible bruises and swelling on her body as evidence. They argued she had tolerated the violence to protect Weasel’s image and shield their children from scandal.

Following her statement, Sandra was granted police bond, though the vehicle involved in the incident remains part of the ongoing investigation. The saga of Sandra and Weasel exposes the complex and painful dynamics of an abusive relationship marked by manipulation, violence, and emotional turmoil. While legal processes unfold, the emotional wounds run deep and will likely persist beyond physical healing.

Ultimately, this tragic episode is a stark reminder of the devastating impact unresolved domestic conflicts can have on families. Though not unique, Sandra and Weasel’s story painfully illustrates how love, trust, and respect can be shattered when violence and control overshadow a relationship.
