“Why Are You the Only Rich One In The Family While Others Are Suffering?” Masked Attacker Questions Before Slaughtering Entebbe Couple

The quiet community of Nakiwogo in Entebbe has been shaken by the brutal murder of David and Deborah Mutaaga, a prominent couple who had recently returned to Uganda after three decades in Switzerland. Authorities suspect the double homicide was a calculated act fueled by jealousy and betrayal within the family.

According to new information shared by the Ritah Kaggwa Blog, the prime suspect is believed to be a relative or clan member who harbored deep resentment toward the Mutaagas’ wealth and success. David, reportedly the heir to a substantial family estate, is thought to have been specifically targeted because of his status.

On the night of the attack, the assailant is said to have breached the property by digging through a wall behind the fence. Armed with a machete and a knife, the attacker confronted David in the living room. A violent altercation ensued, during which the killer allegedly shouted, “Why are you the only one rich in our family? Why are your children and everyone doing well while the rest of us are suffering?” before stabbing David multiple times.

Despite attempting to defend himself, David sustained critical injuries. The attacker then proceeded upstairs, where Deborah was taking a shower. Upon hearing the disturbance, she reportedly called neighbors for help and left the line open. Tragically, the intruder forced his way into the bathroom and fatally stabbed her, with her desperate cries for help possibly recorded on the ongoing call.

After killing Deborah, the suspect returned to the living room to inflict further wounds on David, ensuring he was dead. Although the home was equipped with CCTV cameras, the attacker concealed their identity with a mask. Investigators are now analyzing the voice captured during Deborah’s final phone call in an effort to identify the killer.

Two domestic workers have been detained for questioning, though reports suggest they were not present at the time of the incident. Several relatives who had recently visited the couple are also under investigation, as detectives focus on individuals close to the family.

David and Deborah Mutaaga had enjoyed successful banking careers in Zurich before relocating to Uganda two years ago to retire and invest in their home. Their return appears to have triggered envy among some relatives, particularly due to David’s inheritance of a large estate.

The tragedy has ignited widespread discussion about the destructive power of envy, greed, and internal family conflict. As police continue their investigation, many across Uganda are watching with hope that justice will be served for a couple whose lives may have been cut short simply because of their achievements.
