“Bobi Wine And His Colleagues Are Just Comedians, Not Ready To Lead Uganda” NUP MP Twaha Kagabo Reveals
Dr. Twaha Kagabo, a member of parliament representing the National Unity Platform, criticized his own party, stating that it is not prepared to govern Uganda due to its handling of internal matters.
The Bukoto South MP’s remarks came after NUP released a statement confirming a meeting chaired by party president Bobi Wine, during which MP Mpuuga acknowledged receiving Shs500m as a service award, considered by the party as tainted money.
The NUP statement mentioned that Mpuuga apologized and pledged not to repeat such actions, but the party urged him to resign from his role as parliamentary commissioner, a request he refused.
Kagabo emphasized that NUP’s public handling of the Mpuuga issue instead of addressing it internally reflects their unreadiness for leadership and governance, insisting that such matters should have been kept private.
“I must applaud the Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and his colleagues for having candidly and avidly portrayed to the nation that they are not able to take leadership of this country.” – Hon. Kagabo Twaha.
With the recent internal strife in the FDC party, which resulted in visible divisions, it appears that the same discord is now affecting the Makerere-Kavule-based party. This turmoil could potentially leave the party in disarray ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking to media this evening, Parliament’s Director of Communications Chris Obore has cleared the doubts and said the money which Mpuuga got was not illegal but cash that he was awarded by the parliamentary commission as the leader of opposition which was termed the “Service Award’.
The hullabaloo is not yet to settle ahead of the 2026 general elections with questions of what is Mpuuga’s next stop if he’s to remain in parliament because he has made it clear he’ll not go down and be threatened.
