Bobi Wine Confirms 2026 Presidency Bid!! Ready To Win Either Museveni Or Muhoozi

In the lead-up to the 2026 elections, Bobi Wine’s decision to run again underscores the ongoing dynamics between the ruling party and the opposition.
As President Museveni aims to maintain his enduring position, Kyagulanyi’s candidacy signifies a persistent challenge to the existing status quo, setting the stage for a potentially competitive electoral campaign.Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine and the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, has officially declared his intention to challenge President Yoweri Museveni in the upcoming 2026 elections.
In a CNN interview, Kyagulanyi expressed his commitment to challenging Museveni through “every moral and constitutional way” and affirmed participation in a free and fair election in 2026.The 41-year-old singer-turned-politician emphasized the importance of seeking international attention to support the democratic rights of the people of Uganda.
This announcement coincides with the anticipation of the general elections scheduled for January 12 to February 9, 2026. Candidates for presidential, parliamentary, and local government positions will be nominated from June to October 2025.In November 2023, Dr. Tanga Odoi, chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s electoral commission, revealed that President Museveni would be the party’s candidate for the 2026 polls.
Odoi claimed Museveni had already secured 4.8 million votes, highlighting the NRM’s determination to retain power. The significant number of party leaders is seen as a sign of potential support for the NRM candidate.
During the previous general elections, Museveni emerged victorious against Kyagulanyi, securing a sixth elected term in office. Museveni garnered six million votes (58.38%), while Kyagulanyi received 3.6 million votes (35%). Despite this defeat, analysts emphasize Kyagulanyi’s substantial following, international exposure through an award-winning documentary, and potential collaboration with four-time presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye as indicative of his influence within the opposition.
