“Bobi Wine Has No Political Ambition To Remove Museveni From Power, He’s Just Reviving His Music Career” Frank Gashumba

Political analyst Frank Gashumba has cast doubt on Robert Kyagulanyi’s political motives, suggesting that the musician-turned-politician is leveraging the National Unity Platform (NUP) to advance his personal music career.

During a segment on NBS Barometer, Gashumba cautioned Ugandans against being misled by Kyagulanyi’s purported goal of ousting President Museveni from office.

Gashumba asserted that NUP is essentially a creation of the current administration, functioning primarily as a vehicle for Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, to pursue his musical aspirations.

“Kyagulanyi has always been a musician at heart, not a politician,” Gashumba claimed.

He further accused Kyagulanyi of adopting a self-righteous stance while unfairly criticizing other MPs.

“Kyagulanyi lacks the moral authority to speak on transparency,” he added.

Gashumba noted a decline in support for NUP within key constituencies such as Buganda and the Catholic community. He also raised concerns about corruption allegations surrounding former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, highlighting their negative impact on the party.

Gashumba alleged that NUP receives government funding without proper accountability, citing reports that some party members have never seen the land title for the NUP offices.

Critically, Gashumba criticized Kyagulanyi’s frequent international trips, suggesting they are often undertaken without key party leaders such as Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Mathias Mpuuga, and Medard Lubega Sseggona.

Instead, Gashumba claimed Kyagulanyi frequently travels with individuals like Nubian li and Eddy Mutwe, implying an effort to shield certain party members from international scrutiny.

“It’s a fallacy to believe Kyagulanyi entered politics solely to unseat Museveni. Unlike figures like Muwanga Kivumbi, he lacks a genuine ambition to effect meaningful change in this country,” Gashumba concluded.
