“Don’t Force Your Sharia Law On Me Or Else I’ll Send You To Hell” Museveni Warns ADF Rebels
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued a stern warning to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), urging them to surrender to the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) as their chances of survival are nonexistent.
Speaking on January 9, 2024, President Museveni asserted that the UPDF possesses the capability to obliterate the ADF, provided DR Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi permits the continued pursuit.
In a firm statement, Museveni declared, “Come out, otherwise we have all the capacity, as long as Tshisekedi has allowed us, you have no chance; we shall finish you…Therefore, I am calling upon these ADF people to come out and stop wasting our time. If they don’t, they will all perish.”
Expressing satisfaction over some individuals managing to escape from the ADF, Museveni emphasized that those in UPDF custody represent only a fraction of the many youths who successfully fled the ADF. He urged the ADF to cease causing unnecessary casualties, stating, “I’m glad these young people were clever enough to run away and others are running; these are just a sample, but they (ADF) shouldn’t waste our time and cause the death of so many people because when we attack them, so many die.”
President Museveni disclosed the significant cost associated with UPDF operations against the ADF, emphasizing the expense of the machines, fuel consumption, and the monetary value of the bombs used. He underscored that the funds allocated for combating the ADF could otherwise be directed towards the development of Uganda.
“First of all, those machines are very expensive. Secondly, the fuel they consume is a lot of fuel. Then the bombs, which we are using to hunt these criminals, this is money, which we should be using for your development,” he explained.
President Museveni, during his State of the Nation address on security matters, particularly focused on ADF attacks. He expressed confidence in UPDF’s ongoing operations, affirming that the ADF will ultimately be defeated.
This address followed a series of ADF attacks in 2023, including incidents at Queen Elizabeth National Park resulting in casualties, including the tragic deaths of two foreign tourists.
