“Even If He’s Corrupt, He’ll Win The Vice Chairperson Race 100%, Those Calling Him A Thief Will Still Vote For Him,” Top Mukula Supporter Brags, Calls Ugandan Voters Stupid
A supporter of Captain Mike Mukula, a well-known Ugandan politician, has sparked outrage online after making a bold and insulting statement about Ugandan voters. The supporter, who openly identifies as “Team Mukula Pakapaka,” claimed that even if Mukula is corrupt, he will still win the upcoming race for Eastern Uganda’s NRM Vice Chairperson seat by 100%. The reason? According to him, Ugandans are “stupid” and will vote for Mukula regardless of his past scandals.
This shocking comment has caused a heated debate, especially because it came shortly after a major story was published listing some of the biggest corruption scandals in Uganda’s history. Many Ugandans were already upset after reading about how millions of shillings meant to help citizens were lost in these scandals. One of the cases mentioned was the GAVI Fund scandal, in which funds that were meant to support immunization programs were misused.
Mike Mukula’s name has long been linked to the GAVI Fund scandal. Although he was eventually cleared by court, public opinion still carries mixed feelings. In the early 2000s, the GAVI Fund was set up to help provide vaccines to children across Uganda. The scandal involved the misuse of billions of shillings. Several government officials were accused of stealing the funds, and many Ugandans felt betrayed.
Mukula was arrested and jailed in 2013, but later, the High Court overturned the lower court’s decision and cleared him of all charges. To this day, many Ugandans still question what really happened. Some believe he was innocent, others think powerful people helped him walk free.s2w
Now, the recent statement from one of Mukula’s top supporters has reopened old wounds. The supporter boldly stated:
“Even if Mukula is corrupt, he will win Eastern Ugandan NRM Vice Chairperson by 100%. The very Ugandans abusing him and those whose relatives got affected by the GAVI fund will vote him. Ugandans are stupid so they should stop bad mouthing my boss Mukula.”
This statement is not only offensive, but it also highlights a bigger problem in Uganda’s political system: blind loyalty and lack of accountability. Many citizens feel that politicians get away with serious crimes because of their money, power, or popularity.
The comment has caused anger across social media platforms. Ugandans are asking: how can someone insult voters and still expect support? Others are using the moment to call for more voter education, saying that citizens should learn to hold leaders accountable and vote wisely.
A user wrote, “It’s not about Mukula anymore. It’s about the disrespect politicians and their supporters show to ordinary Ugandans. We deserve better.”
Another said, “If this is what Team Mukula thinks of us, then we must prove them wrong at the ballot box.”
Despite the controversy, Mukula remains a powerful figure in Ugandan politics. His experience, connections, and influence make him a strong candidate in the NRM party. However, this recent drama may damage his reputation further. Some political analysts believe that if Mukula doesn’t distance himself from such toxic supporters, he may lose trust among voters who are still undecided.
This situation is not just about one man or one election. It reflects the deeper issues in Uganda’s political culture. Too often, voters are expected to forget the past and blindly follow their leaders. But more and more, young Ugandans are speaking out and demanding change.
As the NRM prepares for its internal elections, all eyes will be on candidates like Mike Mukula. The big question remains: will Ugandans choose leaders based on loyalty, or will they demand honesty, service, and integrity?
Only time will tell. But one thing is clear—Ugandans are not stupid. They are tired of being taken for granted.
