The people of Bulambuli District are still shocked by the actions of their former Member of Parliament, Hon. Burondo Alex Musingo Mungoma. From 2016 to 2021, he served as their MP and donated an ambulance, claiming it was a gift to help with health emergencies in the community.

During that time, the ambulance was seen moving patients, especially in hard-to-reach areas. The vehicle had a label written “Donated by Burondo Musingo Alex,” and many people appreciated his support. It gave the impression that he truly cared about the lives and health of the people in Bulambuli.

However, things changed after the 2021 elections. When Hon. Burondo lost to the new MP, Hon. Kateenya Isaac, he reportedly took back the ambulance. Instead of leaving it to serve the community, it is said that he sold the vehicle, leaving many people helpless, especially in emergencies.

This act has angered many voters. They feel betrayed and used. People are now questioning whether the ambulance was truly a gift or just a campaign tool to win votes in 2016. If he really cared about the people, why would he remove a life-saving service just because he lost an election?

Many residents have also compared Hon. Burondo to leaders like Hon. Sarah Nambozo Wekomba, who donated an ambulance in her area and continued to support it even after she lost elections. That is what true leadership looks like — putting the people first, whether in power or not.

Now that Hon. Burondo is trying to come back into politics, voters are being reminded of what happened. They are asking: Can we trust a leader who takes back help when things don’t go his way? Can we rely on someone who puts politics above people’s health and lives?

The people of Bulambuli deserve honest leaders — people who serve with integrity and care about the community, not just votes. What happened with the ambulance should not be forgotten.

Let us not be fooled twice. Bulambuli needs real leaders, not those who give with one hand and take back with the other.
