Head Of Muhoozi’s PLU Disciplinary Committee Summoned Over Allegedly Stealing Government Funds , Hides In London’s Lavish Hotel Amidst Fear

The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have summoned two legislators, including the People’s League of Uganda (PLU) disciplinary head, over ongoing corruption investigations.
Igara East MP Michael Mawanda has been summoned for his involvement in alleged theft, corruption and intentions to defraud Buyaka Growers Cooperative of funds disbursed by the government.
The cooperative serves war veterans.Mr Mawanda, who was recently involved in a spat with PLU leader in Buganda Frank Gashumba, is understood to have taken refugee in the UK to evade the grill set up specially for him at the CID headquarters in Kibuli.
Mr Gashumba has been summoned by Mr Mawanda over his social media utterances only to fire back accusing Mawanda of perpetuating gross corruption.
Mr Mawanda has been summoned alongside Ignatius Wamakuye Mudinj, the MP for Mbulamuli Constituency in Elgon subregion.
The Site understands that Mr Wamakuye, who was sharing light jokes with his colleagues at Parliament today, is headed for detention, joining three other MPs currently detained in the ongoing wide ranging corruption investigations.
Yusuf Mutembuli, Cissy Namujju and Paul Akamba were last week arrested and charged with corruption over their alleged role in negotiating kickbacks in return for boosting certain sector budgets during the Appropriation Process.
The 3 legislators were on Wednesday charged with soliciting money from the Chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission, Mariam Wangadya on the 13th day of May 2024 at Hotel Africana in Kampala City.
The State said they demanded 20% of the anticipated enhanced Budget of the UHRC for the Financial Year 2024 2026, by asserting that they were able to exert improper influence over the decision-making of the Budget Committee of the Parliament of Uganda to increase the UHRC Budget, in consideration of the said undue advantage.
The MPs’ arrest followed the revelation made by President Museveni last Thursday, during the State of the Nation Address, that there is proof against the corrupt government officials starting from the Ministry of Finance to Parliament.
