LEAVE HIM ALONE!! Otafiire Defends Bobi Wine’s Move to Open NUP Regional Offices
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Kahinda Otafiire, has come out in defense of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, widely known as Bobi Wine, over the establishment of regional offices for the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Otafiire clarified that no law prevents any registered political party from opening offices across Uganda, highlighting that parties holding a license from the Electoral Commission are fully entitled to expand their operations nationwide.
His remarks followed the recent launch of NUP’s western regional office in Mbarara City, coming shortly after the commissioning of the party’s eastern headquarters in Iganga District in August. The Iganga office had been completed quietly to avoid political harassment, with the land secured discreetly, construction finalized, and branding installed just hours before the inauguration.
