“Most People Are In NRM Because They Love Money Not The Party, NRM Won’t Exist When Museveni Is No More” Controversial Ugandan MP Spills Secret

As the curtain falls on 2024, December 31, also marked the final edition of the NBS Morning Breeze show for the year. This special episode featured Hon. Muhammad Nsereko as the guest speaker, with Simon Kaggwa Njala hosting.
During the discussion, Nsereko shared his thoughts on the future of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) after the era of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“I don’t see the NRM surviving past Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni because most who are there are there because they expect favors from him, not because they love the party,” Nsereko stated.
As an independent Member of Parliament representing the Kampala Central Division since 2011, Nsereko remains unaffiliated with any political party. He reaffirmed his intention to run again in 2026.
His remarks have sparked debate, raising a critical question: Is the strength of the NRM tied to its leader, or does the party have a foundation that will endure beyond Museveni’s leadership? Only time will tell.
