“Museveni Would Call Me To The Bush To Be With Him When Janet Was Away ” Winnie Byanyima Reveals Secrets

Ugandans have been left in shock after veteran politician and current UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima revealed that President Yoweri Museveni personally invited her to join him in the bush during her university days.

Speaking at a public event, Byanyima disclosed a lesser-known chapter of her past, one that has now reignited debates about Uganda’s political history.

“President Museveni used to call me to join him in the bush when I was at university,” she stated, leaving the audience stunned.

In Uganda’s historical and political context, “the bush” refers to the guerrilla war that Museveni and his National Resistance Army (NRA) waged against the government in the early 1980s.

Byanyima’s revelation suggests that Museveni, who was leading an armed struggle at the time, personally reached out to her in an attempt to recruit her into the rebellion.

Winnie Byanyima, a respected political figure, was once closely associated with Museveni’s camp.

Her family had ties to the president, and she later worked alongside him after the NRA took power in 1986.

However, political differences emerged, and Byanyima became a strong opposition figure.

She later married Dr. Kizza Besigye, Museveni’s former personal physician and a key opposition leader who has challenged Museveni’s presidency multiple times.

Byanyima’s revelation has sparked widespread curiosity, with many Ugandans wondering how different the country’s political landscape might have been had she accepted Museveni’s invitation.
