“NUP Has Been Surviving On Propaganda, Soon They Will Be No More” President Museveni Sends Strong Message

President Yoweri Museveni recently made strong remarks regarding the National Unity Platform (NUP), stating that the opposition party has been relying on propaganda in Buganda and predicting that they will soon cease to exist.
His comments were shared in a video posted on the verified X handle of UBC Uganda, during an interview where he was asked about NUP’s influence in the region. Museveni argued that the party has maintained its popularity in Buganda through propaganda, but he believes their support will eventually fade away.
The president’s statement sparked a range of reactions online. Some critics deemed his remarks unfair, while many of his supporters agreed with his assessment. NUP, led by Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has been a significant opposition force, especially in Buganda. In the 2021 elections, the party garnered substantial support, securing several parliamentary seats in the region, which helped solidify its political strength in Uganda.
Museveni’s comments appear to reflect his ongoing focus on diminishing NUP’s influence, especially in Buganda. By accusing the party of using propaganda, he aims to undermine their support in the region. Despite this, NUP remains a formidable force, and its supporters continue to challenge the government. While the NUP has not yet responded to Museveni’s recent statements, it is likely that the party will defend itself, as it has done in the past.
