“Our Colleagues Who Left FDC To Form ANT & PFF Made A Grave Mistake, They Will Wish They Hadn’t” Mafabi Speaks Out
Nathan Nandala Mafabi, a senior leader in the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and a presidential hopeful, has publicly criticized former FDC members who left the party to form new political movements. Speaking to the media, Mafabi described the creation of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) and the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) as a serious misstep.
“FDC was built on struggle, sacrifice, and unity,” Mafabi emphasized. “Those who left to form ANT and PFT gave up too soon. They should have remained and helped us face the challenges together.”
He argued that the departure of key figures weakened the opposition rather than strengthening it. “When we fragment, we weaken the struggle,” he said. “Those who left may now see that their decision did not deliver the change they were hoping for.”
Mafabi is now focused on consolidating FDC’s base and gearing up for the upcoming elections. He maintains that the party remains strong and continues to enjoy broad public support.
In a message to former colleagues, Mafabi offered an olive branch: “You made a mistake, but it’s not too late to return.”
His remarks come amid growing concerns over the fragmentation of Uganda’s opposition, highlighting the urgent need for unity if meaningful political change is to be achieved.
