State Minister of Lands Dr. Sam Mayanja explained why he knows why a Muganda politician who supports or opposes Mengo will never become the President of Uganda.

Appearing on a Kampala FM radio station, Mayanja said that during the period 1884-1967, the Mengo Establishment was part of the country’s exploitative ruling establishment for Uganda which as of that time was still a British Protectorate.

Mayanja, a respected legal historian and researcher, said that during this time (over 70 years), many Ugandans were mistreated and ostracized, a situation for which all other Ugandans will never forgive the Mengo Institution whose key actors collaborated and enabled that exploitation and misrule by the British colonialists.

That key actors in the Mengo Establishment collaborated with the British colonialists and actively participated in the marginalization of the rest of Uganda.

Mayanja says this is why key decision makers and donors in other parts of Uganda have always been afraid and intimidated by Ugandan politicians, especially those who worked on founding Mengo.

As in Bunyoro, people from other regions were also dispossessed of their land, but they were not specifically excluded from making decisions about how to govern these regions. Mayanja says therefore the rest of Uganda has a history and is based on feuds and problems against Buganda and especially the Mengo establishment.

Mayanja also says that leaders in Mengo have always had many rights to acquire the rights of Kabaka workers who lay claim to essential assets like Kigo land and this consists of government headquarters but the same was never available in Mengo.

The flaws identified by some, Dr. Sam Mayanja dares some of the NUP foot soldiers supporting Bobi Wine to contradict Mengo on social media and say that their man Kyagulanyi can actually succeed and become President of Uganda, backed by ordinary Baganda and the rest of the country, even without being on good terms with people currently calling shots at Mengo which is the seat of power for Buganda Kingdom led by Kabaka Mutebi.
