Shocking!! Besigye Blames Museveni Over Stolen Matooke – Ugandans React
Four time presidential candidate and former party president of the Forum for Democratic change (FDC) Retired Col Kiiza Besigye has attacked president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni after thieves got into his home garden and walked away with large matooke from his garden.
The FDC strong man took a swipe at president Museveni who he fought with in the jungles of Luwero in a guerilla war that ushered them into government until the late 1990s when he disagreed and decided to part ways with his former boss.
He tried challenging him in four presidential elections in 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016 until he gave up claiming Museveni’s rule can’t be ousted through elections himself [Museveni] organizes.He has launched several campaigns all meant to end Museveni’s rule and the recent one being the red card movement which he almost did alone as all the affiliates failed to join him on the streets of Kampala.
Besigye who resides in Kasangati, Wakiso district has taken to X formerly twitter and said that six large bunches of Matooke were stolen from his garden before pushing the blame to Museveni saying “its a compound socioeconomic challenge ug faces after 40 yrs of M7/NRM Junta’s rule”.
“Six large bunches of bananas (Matooke) were stolen from our small Kasangati garden last night! This is why many people have resorted to sleeping in their gardens- guarding. It’s a compound socioeconomic challenge Ug faces after 40 yrs of M7/NRM Junta’s rule! That’s why….” Besigye Tweeted.
Netizens waste no time, they hit the comment section and started bombarding his tweet with different reactions with some claiming he’s pushing the blame to the government he helped to bring in power.
Just Last year , Dr Kizza Besigye ruled use of guns to topple President Museveni and his NRM party from power. The opposition doyen said that it’s useless to use violence against Museveni. He said Museveni who used the gun to assume power in 1986 has demonstrated that taking power using the gun does not offer a solution to vices like dictatorship because those who are victorious by the gun become the new problem.
Museveni and his NRA fighters resorted to rebellion after losing the 1980 elections. Col Besigye was one of the fighters of the rebellion that brought Museveni to power. He said he and other NRA fighters continue to receive flack for having pursued violence.
