Shocking!! Controversial Lawyer Mabirizi Drags Kabaka Mutebi To Court Again – Accuses Him Of Doing Several Things Illegally

Lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi has filed yet another petition against the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ii before the Constitutional Court.
This time, Mabirizi is asking the appellate court for a temporary injunction to stop the Kabaka and his institutions, including the Buganda Land Board and Enkuluze, from starting the Mass Settlers’ Registration and Ground Rent (Busuulu) Collection on October 1st, 2023. This initiative primarily targets people who live on officially registered mailo land that is owned by the king.
Mabirizi wants the registration process to be stayed pending the outcome of the primary complaint he filed in 2022, which challenges Kabaka’s conduct related Mailo Land. He claims that the King is illegally enforcing land registration fees and threatening those who live on Mailo land in his main legal case.
In addition, he disputes the Kabaka’s claim to possess mailo property and his collection of money from non-leasee Buganda locals living on this area. He claims the King is taking a 10% charge on the sale price of land/kibanja placed on this territory.
Since 2015, Mabirizi has brought a number of legal actions and requests against the Kabaka of Buganda relating to land, the most of which have stalled in court. These lawsuits have included unsuccessful attempts to compel the King to appear in court personally, as well as efforts to force the King to disclose his income from land rent and halt the land registration process.
In his most recent petition, Mabirizi has asked the court of appeal to prohibit various government entities, including the Attorney General, Courts of Judicature, Ministries, Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defence Forces, Kampala Capital City Authority, and Local Governments, from providing support, recognition, and protection to the Kabaka and activities related to land.
