This announcement comes at a time when NUP finds itself embroiled in controversy and internal discord, particularly concerning the allocation of a ‘Service Award’ fund amounting to Shs500 million.
This was granted to Mathias Mpuuga, the Deputy President for Buganda, former Leader of the Opposition, and Commissioner, by parliament.

NUP MP SSEGONA REACTS
Meanwhile, Busiro East Member of Parliament Medard Sseggona has accused NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi of mishandling the situation surrounding corruption allegations against his deputy Mathias Mpuuga.
Sseggona criticised Kyagulanyi’s approach, stating, “If you are a leader and you are the first to make such a statement, it’s wrong because as a leader when you speak, nobody else is going to speak.”
This criticism comes in response to Kyagulanyi’s public accusation against Mpuuga, who allegedly received a 500 million shillings “good service award” from Parliament, triggering accusations of corruption and abuse of office
In a retaliatory move, Mpuuga accused Kyagulanyi of “orchestrating and funding a campaign to character assassinate him “, further complicating the situation. As allegations and counter-allegations continue to surface, the party’s internal unity and public perception hang in the balance.
The rift within NUP leadership raises questions about the party’s ability to navigate internal conflicts and maintain a united front amidst external pressures.
