Sironko RDC’s Office in Trouble Over Display of Political Posters

The Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Sironko is at the center of public controversy after political posters of Hajji Lumolo and his daughter were seen displayed within the premises. The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who say the office has violated its constitutional duty to remain neutral.
The RDC, Balwaniregha Denis Ephraim, is entrusted with representing the President in the district. His role includes supervising the implementation of government programs, coordinating service delivery, and ensuring peace and order. Most importantly, the position demands political neutrality.
According to Article 203 of the 1995 Constitution, the RDC must monitor government services, chair the District Security Committee, and perform other duties assigned by the President or Parliament. The Local Government Act of 1997 also reinforces the need for impartiality in the execution of these responsibilities.
However, the display of campaign materials in a government office has raised serious concerns. Residents argue that such actions show favoritism and compromise the fairness of the political process. The move has also fueled fears that the office may be misused to promote certain candidates over others.
In response, concerned citizens of Sironko are demanding the immediate transfer of RDC Balwaniregha Denis Ephraim. They claim his continued stay in office undermines the credibility of the electoral process and threatens equal political participation for all aspirants.
As the country prepares for upcoming elections, the people of Sironko are calling on national leaders to intervene and restore public confidence. They insist that government offices must serve all citizens equally and not be turned into platforms for partisan politics.
