“Sobi Told Me He Did A lot Of Dirty Work For Museveni’s Regime” Bobi Wine Leaks Secrets Of His Last Phonecall With Sobi
Robert Kyagulanyi, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), known as Bobi Wine, has revealed that he cautioned the late Kifeesi leader, Paddy Sserunjoji, also known as Sobi, about the adverse repercussions of collaborating with the regime.
Sobi, the self-professed leader of the criminal gang Kifeesi in Kampala, reportedly met his demise through mob action during a failed land eviction in Maddu, Gomba.Despite Sobi’s criminal background, Kyagulanyi shared in a detailed social media post that they had been friends for an extended period. He disclosed Sobi’s previous confessions about being manipulated by senior government officials to commit crimes such as robberies, abductions, and land grabs.
According to Kyagulanyi, Sobi, who had orchestrated the abduction and disappearance of numerous individuals, including fellow boxers, had recently reached out to him. Sobi allegedly admitted to engaging in illicit activities under the regime’s orders out of fear for his life.
“He conducted the abduction and disapearance of over 50 of our friends, including fellow boxers like Vegas Lubega. Some of these who were lucky to return, narrated the ordeal they went through at Lwamayuba island in Kalangala where they were kept incommunicado; tortured, and treated as slaves for over a year.” Kyagulanyi alleges.
“They spoke of how some were summarily executed and fed to crocodiles. Many of them have never been seen again. All this time, he (Sobi) was working under Kaka Bagyenda, then the head of ISO.”
In their conversation about six months ago, Kyagulanyi claims to have warned Sobi that, like others before him, he would be exploited and ultimately eliminated by the same regime he served.
Kyagulanyi recounted telling Sobi, “You will never be one of them, and they will never love you. They will use you against your own people, and after your people have hated you enough, they will get rid of you like a useless piece of rubbish.”
Sobi expressed dissatisfaction with his stagnant position in dirty street work while others he started with had climbed to significant offices due to connections within the regime.
Preliminary reports indicate that in Kibaale village, Kigumba parish, Maddu sub-county, Gomba district, around 12:30 pm on Monday, a clash between two groups armed with sticks, pangas, and spears resulted in Sobi’s death on land belonging to Kalisa.
