Contrary to bogus social media allegations that she gave birth abroad, Speaker of Parliament Nnalongo Anita Annet Among has stated that she gave birth to her twins in Uganda.

On Monday, October 23, 2023, Among, who had been missing from Parliamentary business for almost a month, is reported to have given birth to the twins. Dismissing the rumors and urging people to have faith in the regional healthcare system, Among emphasized the importance of public trust in Uganda’s health sector.

Her statements were made during a courtesy visit to Muhammad Ssegirinya, the member from Kawempe North who has been hospitalized for the last three days due to acute heartburn and head difficulties. While recuperating on his sickbed, Ssegirinya narrated his journey to the Nsambya hospital, disclosing that he had arrived unconscious.

In the hospital’s atmosphere, the Speaker of Parliament talked about her recent return from maternity leave. She used the occasion to reassure Ugandans about the competence of the medical staff and to urge them to have faith in the nation’s healthcare system.

Known for being frank, Ssegirinya thought about how his health issues now differed from his previous run-ins with security personnel.Ssegirinya admitted that his viewpoint has changed, comparing his attitude toward physical health to that of a small kid.

But when speaking with the media for the first time after taking maternity leave, Speaker of the Parliament Nnalongo Anita Annet Among dispelled rumors on social media that she gave birth to twins abroad.

“People should build confidence in our health systems in the country, I heard people say that I went abroad to give birth which is untrue, I gave birth here in Uganda in a private hospital”. Noted Among.
