In a shocking turn of events, We recently reported that Speaker of Parliament Anita Among had fled to her country home in Bukedea after reports emerged that President Museveni had ordered an investigation into her wealth hidden in the United Kingdom.

The sudden retreat came after Among’s handler, Joseph Sabbit, invited parliamentary reporters to cover her being counted in the ongoing census exercise at her Kampala residence. However, he later recalled the message, stating that the Speaker had left Kampala at breakneck speed to attend to “urgent issues” in Bukedea.

Additionally, Speaker Annet Anita Among’s recent abrupt adjournment of parliament was a deliberate move to safeguard her well-being and political standing. A trusted family source revealed that Among’s loved ones, friends, and personal physicians urged her to take a break due to the mounting pressure and threats to her life, which had become a matter of grave concern.

“She needed time to rest, because as things stand, we might lose her. She has issues with her blood pressure and if it is not handled early and properly, she may develop other illnesses because she has been betrayed by people she has worked with for a long time,” a family source said.

According to a highly placed source, Among received a letter from President Yoweri Museveni directing the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate her declared assets, triggering fears of potential sanctions from the UK government. This development came after a meeting between Museveni and UK High Commissioner Kate Airey, who allegedly informed him about Among’s purportedly corruptly acquired properties in the UK.

In the letter, Museveni claimed that Kate confirmed Among’s ownership of UK properties, allegedly obtained through corrupt means, and threatened to freeze her assets and billions held in UK bank accounts.According to a highly placed source, Among received a letter from President Yoweri Museveni instructing the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to probe her declared assets, sparking fears of potential sanctions from the UK government. This move followed a meeting between Museveni and UK High Commissioner Kate Airey, who reportedly briefed him on Among’s allegedly illicitly acquired properties in the UK.

In the said letter, Museveni stated that Kate confirmed to him that Among owns properties in United Kingdom which she obtained from corruption and they were going to be freeze all her properties together with the billions of money she keeps on UK bank accounts. He explained that Anita Among was very sure that president Museveni was going to stand with her, but she was very surprised to see the letter directing IGG to investigate her.

Sources also indicated that suprisingly, Museveni did not brief Among about his meeting with Kate.A family source confided that Anita Among Magogo’s health is a significant concern, particularly her fragile blood pressure, which may deteriorate due to the betrayal by long-time associates.

Furthermore, Museveni’s omission to brief Among about his meeting with Kate has exacerbated her distress and sense of isolation. Experts warn that sanctions could have severe repercussions, including travel restrictions, financial difficulties, and limited access to international medical facilities for Among and her family.

Chris Obore, Parliament’s Director of Communication, disclosed that some NRM members question Among’s legitimacy as Speaker due to her lack of involvement in the 1980 liberation struggle, a contentious issue. Investigations revealed that Among’s swift rise to power has threatened the Deep State’s carefully laid succession plans, prompting a political backlash.

Her decision to summon MPs to her home district was perceived as a display of strength, potentially threatening the President’s position and authority. The situation has left Among’s family and supporters worried about her political future and health, as she faces potential prosecution and humiliation. With her political career hanging in the balance, Among must navigate this treacherous landscape with caution to avoid further escalation and repercussions.

A source revealed that Among, realizing she was under attack by the Deep State for threatening their succession plans, resorted to a primitive political tactic by summoning and parading all MPs, including opposition members, to her home area in Bukedea district.

According to sources, her intention was to demonstrate her control over the entire parliament, including MPs, which posed a threat to the Deep State’s calculations, as it showed she could command parliament to impeach the President, causing political turmoil in the country. Another source added that, as a woman, Among can mount a robust challenge if she publicly declares her presidential ambitions.
