President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s Senior Presidential Advisor on Media has recounted his harrowing experience surviving gunfire while relieving himself on Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga’s property in Bwaise, a suburb of Kampala.

Joseph Tamale Mirundi shared that during his tenure as a guest on Pastor Ssenyonga’s radio show, he encountered a confrontation with a Local Defense Unit (LDU) Soldier who accused him of soiling their workplace, citing potential health hazards to church attendees.

Mirundi denied any wrongdoing, but the LDU officer persisted, alleging Mirundi’s fly was open and menacingly handling his firearm. Sensing danger, Mirundi swiftly reacted, evoking his military training by leaping into action, incapacitating the LDU soldier with a decisive kick to the chest.

Despite the tense situation, Mirundi’s restraint prevailed, as he refrained from lethal force, honoring a plea from Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who provided Mirundi with Special Forces Commandos. Mirundi emphasized his wariness of LDU personnel, citing their inexperience and eagerness to demonstrate proficiency with firearms.

“For me I fear those LDU people and I don’t want to come close to them because they are naive and they always want to show the public that they know how to use a gun. They don’t normally get the opportunity to fire bullets like other soldiers who go to war. So I don’t want them to make me their shooting target,” Mirundi said.

Further investigation by Mirundi’s Internal Security Organisation (MISO) uncovered a plot orchestrated by a senior pastor, allegedly resentful of Mirundi’s allegiance to House of Prayer Ministries International senior pastor Alosious Bujjingo.

This pastor purportedly instigated the LDU soldier’s aggression due to a feud with Bujjingo, involving Teddy Bujjingo Naluswa’s legal battle over the couple’s divorce at the Family Division of the High Court.
