“The Judges You Call Worthless Are The Ones Who Granted You Bail During The 2021 Elections, Allowing You To Campaign Freely” Chief Justice Owiny Dollo Blasts Bobi Wine

Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has responded to comments made by Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, during the burial of MP Mohammad Ssegirinya on January 12, 2025. He further suggested that judges prioritized personal benefits over their duty to deliver justice.
In his response, Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo reminded Bobi Wine of a time when the same Judiciary he now criticizes came to his aid. He called for unity within the judicial system and stressed the importance of delivering justice without being drawn into public disputes. His remarks came during the Judicial Annual Retreat, an event designed to enhance professional skills among judges and justices. The retreat served as a platform for participants to exchange ideas and collaborate on improving Uganda’s justice system.
Through his statements, Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo defended the Judiciary against its critics and advocated for constructive discussions about justice in Uganda. He emphasized that fostering unity and collaboration is essential to maintaining public trust in legal institutions…
