Used And Dumped!! Former RDC’s Cry Out To Museveni For Money Or New Appointments, Narrate Their Conditions After Museveni Dropped Them

Earlier this month, former influential Museveni RDCs gathered in Kampala to express their plight to the President. Since their dismissal from prestigious Presidential Representative Positions in March 2022, they find themselves in dire straits with no clear path forward.
Following a prior meeting with Museveni, where they sought audience with him, the former RDCs organized themselves and met with the president on July 8, 2022. Museveni expressed gratitude for their past service to the nation and urged them to support the current and newly appointed RDCs to facilitate better service delivery.
In a tweet after the meeting, Museveni acknowledged meeting some of the former RDCs at State House in Entebbe, thanking them for their service and assigning them the task of supporting their successors.
“I met some of the former Resident District Commissioners (RDC) at State House at Entebbe. I thanked them for their service and tasked them to support the current RDCs in delivering service to our people and the nation”-Museveni tweeted after meeting them.
The group left the meeting with smiles, reportedly after the president assured them of some financial support to help them transition into their new circumstances. While some were redeployed, others received cash sums totaling Shs360m, and a select few were granted land. However, not all former RDCs received this assistance, leading to continued pleas for help from the president.
Struggling in the current economic climate, the former RDCs have reconvened in Kampala to reiterate their plea for assistance, whether through new appointments or financial aid to help them cope with joblessness.
One prominent figure among them is former Jinja RDC Eric Sakwa, who faced a downfall after being accused of murder during the Covid-19 curfew period, leading to his arrest and detention.
Despite being acquitted years later, his contract was terminated by the Permanent Secretary in the Presidency. Efforts to challenge this decision in court proved futile.
Sakwa, a professional teacher with a Master’s Degree, was once a vocal politician in Mbale. He now appeals to the president for a second chance to serve his country or to provide him and his former colleagues with assistance to navigate life after being RDCs.
These pleas coincide with the NRM party’s upcoming nationwide registration update. For those unfamiliar, an RDC holds significant power within a district, heading the District Security Committees and wielding authority over DPCs. During elections, their directives from higher authorities are implemented without hesitation.
