The president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has come under social media criticism after he attacked MPs, Hon Mathias Mpuuga and Hon Abed Bwanika during his London show.

During the performance of his song Matyansi Butyampa, the singer/politician changed the lyrics calling it freestyle. It’s no secret that at the time this song was released, he was attacking fellow singer Bebe Cool, his father.Bidandi Ssali and the Kiwoko Boys who were in Gagamel at the time.

However this time, the lyrics were directed at the MPs who he referred to as little dogs afraid of him.The song lyrics translate into these little dogs coiling their tails in fear and shame after meeting him- Omubanda wa Kabaka.

His audience was nonetheless fired up and enjoyed the diss but not different opinions on social media. Many have branded the singer politically immature.

“I have seen a clip from Bobi Wine’s show in London where he attacks Mpuuga and Abed Bwanika for straying from the so-called struggle. At some point, it gets too personal (what do Mpuuga’s suits and his English got to do with the struggle?). Not surprisingly, the crowd loved it but this was so low-bro. With my many years of covering politics, I have not seen this level of political & emotional immaturity from someone aspiring to cause change & lead this country. Bobi Wine has to move on from the Mpuuga saga, where he clearly has the upper hand,” one of the vocal voices in journalist Edris Kiggundu noted.

But as the saying goes, not all can hate a person, it was the case for Bobi Wine. Many of his supporters have come out to defend him against all costs.

The Concert

Thousands of people gathered in London at the Intercontinental London The O2 to witness a historic event: a music concert featuring international artist and National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Mr. Bobi Wine, alongside his collaborator Nubian Li.

This event, which took place on the weekend of April 20th, marked Bobi Wine’s debut performance at the prestigious O2 Arena, billed as “The Return of The Gladiator.”For Bobi Wine, a musician and politician from Uganda, this concert represented a significant milestone in his musical career.

The atmosphere was electric as he took the stage, greeted by cheers and applause from his enthusiastic fans. Performing alongside Nubian Li, Bobi Wine delivered a memorable performance that resonated with the audience.

During the concert, Bobi Wine expressed powerful messages of unity and self-reliance. He reminded the crowd of their collective heritage, invoking the legacies of past leaders such as Mandela, Obote, and Ben Kiwanuka. He emphasized the importance of finding solutions within themselves, especially in the face of leadership that may not prioritize the well-being of future generations.

However, it’s worth noting that authorities in Uganda have repeatedly blocked Bobi Wine’s concerts, which some view as an attempt to stifle his voice and undermine his source of income. Roja Maibo, a fan from Uganda, expressed longing for Bobi Wine’s presence on stage, reflecting the sentiment of many who miss his performances dearly.

The success of “The Return of The Gladiator” concert in London underscores the widespread anticipation for Bobi Wine’s return to the stage after years of absence. The event served as a reminder of his enduring popularity and the impact of his music on people around the world.

Many attendees expressed a longing for similar events to take place in Uganda, highlighting the significance of Bobi Wine’s music and message within his home country.
