Was He A Terrorist? See Why Deceased Museveni Critic Dr Aggrey Kiyingi Was Put On Uganda’s Most Wanted List

Ugandan cardiologist, Dr.Aggrey Kiyingi who has been living in Australia has died, his wife has announced.
The Australian-based doctor who wanted to stand as a presidential candidate in Uganda was in 2015 placed alongside the warlord Joseph Kony as one of the country’s most wanted men. Dr Aggrey Kiyingi has repeatedly accused the Ugandan government of pursuing charges against him for political reasons.
The names and photographs of the 11 wanted people have been published in all major newspapers in the country, and they include Kiyingi.
“He is a wealthy cardiologist based in Australia,” The Police Spokesman Said
“He is wanted for bankrolling murders that rocked eastern Uganda from December 2014 to February 2015.” He Added
According to prosecutors, Kiyingi and 23 other suspects murdered four Muslim clerics, two policemen and a local leader. They are further charged with attempting to murder three other people. Kiyingi has previously dismissed the claims as “absolute nonsense”, saying they were part of a long history of orchestrated government harassment of his political organisation, including imprisonment of members, in the lead-up to the 2016 election.
In February 2016, he accused the president, Yoweri Museveni, of a “pre-emptive strike” linking him to the murder of the clerics, designed to damage his electoral chances. He said his supporters had been harassed, arrested and in some cases tortured by authorities.
The country’s police spokesman, Fred Enaga, Said: “We have released the list of Uganda’s most wanted criminal fugitives. Some of them are in countries which do not have extradition treaties with Uganda. We are working with Interpol to arrest the suspects outside Uganda.”
Kony, who launched a rebellion in Uganda more than two decades ago, is wanted on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity including murder, sexual slavery and using child soldiers.
Security believed that Kiyingi was offering logistical and financial support to the Allied Democratic Forces who are said to run hit squads killing Muslim sheikhs and could have killed Afande Andrew Felix Kaweesi last month.
Previously, it was Jamilu Mukulu acting as the supreme leader of the ADF but security is analyzing links that Kiyingi could have replaced Mukulu in the role.It is remembered that Kiyingi wanted to run for president in the 2016 elections but was prevented by criminal cases against him in Uganda.
His file was later cleared. However, police has once again reopened his file.
