“We Can Survive Without Foreign Investors, If They Want To Leave Uganda, We Shall Help Them Pack” Angry Gen Muhoozi Fumes

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, recently made a bold statement on his official X account regarding the country’s Anti-Homosexuality Act and its potential economic consequences. In his post, he expressed that some foreign companies might be considering leaving Uganda due to the passage of the law, although he did not specify which companies.
He firmly stated, “We are willing to help them pack their bags and leave our blessed country forever! Uganda is God’s country! We will actually thrive without them.” This remark comes amid growing international criticism of the law, which has led to threats of sanctions and business withdrawals.
General Muhoozi’s comments highlight Uganda’s firm rejection of external pressure, emphasizing the country’s prioritization of its moral and cultural values over economic considerations related to foreign investments. His statement reflects the government’s stance on sovereignty and its determination to stand by the controversial legislation, regardless of any potential economic fallout.
However, the withdrawal of foreign companies could have a significant impact on Uganda’s economy, particularly in sectors that rely heavily on international partnerships and investments. Despite this, General Muhoozi’s declaration signals confidence in Uganda’s ability to thrive independently, reinforcing the government’s commitment to its policies and principles.
