“We Haven’t Apologized To Speaker Among Over NUP Mufumbiro’s Verbal Attack” Bugweri Chiefdom Distances Itself From The Trending Apology Letter
A letter that has been making rounds on social media and signed by a one Mugwisa Mwamadi purpoting to represent the Bugweri Chiefdom in Busoga Kingdom had indicated that Bugweri had apologized to speaker of parliament Hon Anita Among over comments by NUP deputy Spokesperson Waiswa Alex Mufumbiro at the send of Abdul Katuntu’s young brother Waiswa Ramathan in Mugweri last week.
At the send off, Mufumbiro openly told off Anita Among who was in attendance and was the Chief Mourner to let former speaker of parliament Kadaga and should stop dragging the veteran politician in her woes.
The outspoken NUP mouthpiece who unapologetically warned Anita Among to back off Kadaga also used that moment to thank Basoga for welcoming Mathias Mpuuga whose gang had a day before assaulted his [Mufumbiro’s] twin brother Kato Keneth Mufumbiro.
In another twist of events, the Chief of the Bugweri Chiefdom HRH Nkuutu Samuel Zirabamuzale has distanced himself and the chiefdom from the group purpoting to represent his chiefdom saying his Kingdom is not political, doesn’t engage in partisan politics and is purely cultural.
“Therefore, we are not part of it and please whoever tried to take us into politics is personating our true image. We are a cultural institution not involved in any matter of politics”-the document reads in part.
The Purported Apology Letter
As earlier reported, Bugweri clan leaders, led by Mugwisa Mwamadi, the third Bugweri prime minister, in the Letter came out to distance themselves from Mufumbiro’s statements and further condemned him. The leaders have written an apology to Speaker Among.
“We, the ministers, abamagombolola (sub-county chiefs) and clan leaders of Bugweri Chiefdom, take our sincere apology for the statement made by Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro during the burial of counsel Waiswa Ramathan,” the statement reads in part.
The leaders further condemned Mufumbiro’s remarks, saying they respect and embrace all leaders irrespective of their tribe, sex, or age, among others.
“We would like to condemn it (Mufumbiro’s statement) with the strongest terms possible, as Obwa Menhya, we respect and embrace all leaders irrespective of their tribes, sexes, and ages, among others,” the statement further reads.
The leaders have also requested that Speaker Among grant them an appointment to physically apologize to her.
“As ministers, Abamagombolola, and clan leaders, we are therefore seeking an appointment and a visit to you so that we can relay our apology before you face-to-face as a delegation from Obwa Menhya wa Bugweri with over 30 people, including ministers,” they added.
About 30 leaders from Bugweri Allegedly condemned Mufumbiro. These include the chiefdom’s religious leader, Baligeya Joshua, clan head Monday Milton, and chief advisor Igaga Haruma, among others.
