“What NUP Did Was A Total Disgrace To Ugandans But For Me, I Don’t Fight For Dead Bodies” Mpuuga Breaks His Silence After Being Denied Access To Late MP Ssegirinya’s Body

Former leader of opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, has accused members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) of attempting to create commotion during the burial of the late Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Honorable Mohammad Ssegirinya, who passed away after a prolonged illness. Sources have confirmed that Ssegirinya, who had been jailed for two years after being linked to the deaths of over 15 people, was released from prison but spent most of his time in and out of the hospital until his death.
Tensions arose when members of NUP and Mathias Mpuuga allegedly set up venues for the burial ceremony of the deceased. However, NUP members refused to allow the body of the deceased to be taken to Mpuuga’s venue. This conflict occurred amid claims by Bobi Wine and the leader of the opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi, that Ssegirinya could have still been alive if he had been allowed to seek medical treatment after requesting to be released on bail for that purpose. The judge had, however, denied his request, leading to further controversy surrounding the circumstances of his death.
