In a solemn ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya, the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, bid farewell to 150 esteemed officers of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, marking the end of their dedicated service to the nation.

Saluting the men of valor on Monday afternoon, General Muhoozi commended the retiring officers for their unwavering commitment to Uganda’s security over the years, acknowledging their sacrifices and valor in numerous operations.

“For Uganda, our fatherland, no sacrifice is too great,” he declared, echoing the sentiments of gratitude and respect felt by all in attendance.

Among the retirees were 33 Colonels, 78 Lieutenant Colonels, and 39 Majors, whose collective service spanned decades of military excellence. General Kainerugaba assured them that the legacy of their dedication would be carried forward by the younger generation of officers, who continue to uphold the noble traditions of the Peoples’ Army.

Drawing parallels between the military and religious vocations, General Kainerugaba emphasized that service in the armed forces transcends mere occupation—it is a calling, a lifelong commitment to the nation.
