No One Is Above The Law!! UPDF Arrests Soldier Who Gave UPDF Uniform To MP Lillian Aber
The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has responded swiftly following the emergence of photos showing Kitgum Woman MP Lillian Aber clad in military camouflage, prompting questions about the source of the uniform.
The images, circulated on social media, depicted the lawmaker donning military fatigues on Monday, February 5th, as she inaugurated a sanitation initiative alongside uniformed personnel in preparation for Terehe Sita festivities in Kitgum District.
Addressing the issue, UPDF spokesperson Brigadier Gen. Felix Kulayigye disclosed that a soldier, whose identity remained undisclosed, had been apprehended for furnishing Aber with the uniform without proper authorization.
“After reaching out to the MP, she has issued an apology. Concurrently, investigations have been launched, resulting in the arrest of the soldier who provided her with the attire,”
Kulayigye informed journalists during an interview at Bugweri district headquarters in Busesa, where he was participating in the UPDF 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary celebrations.
The incident incited discussions on social media, with some users citing Section 164 of the UPDF Act pertaining to the unauthorized utilization of military attire.
