Breaking!! 2 UPDF Soldiers Brutally Shot Dead By M23 Rebels In Swift Ambush – See What Happened

At least two Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldiers have been injured in an ambush by rebels in the volatile eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (EAC). The rebels waylaid the UPDF convoy at Burahi along Bunagana-Rutshuru road.
“It is true, two UPDF soldiers were shot in the head by rebels in DRC,” said army spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye when contacted by ChimpReports on Monday evening.
He said the incident occurred at around 10:00 am.Kulayigye said the soldiers were admitted in critical condition at the UPDF field hospital in Bunagana.
“The bullets are still lodged in their (soldiers) heads,” Said Kulayigye.
This investigative website understands the injured UPDF soldiers were later transferred to Kisoro Regional Referral hospital for better medical care. The UPDF is now investigating the identities of the attackers.
It is suspected M23 rebels conducted today’s ambush. “We (UPDF) are co-located with M23 rebels in Bunagana, Rutshuru and Kiwanja,” said a source who preferred anonymity to speak freely, adding, “They are the most active militia group in our area of operation.”
But Kulayigye quickly dismissed the claim that M23 were behind today’s ambush, saying, “They are not co-located with us. We are occupying areas they vacated.”
East African leaders earlier this year deployed the East African Regional Force (EACRF) to facilitate the disarmament and cantonment of militia groups operating in eastern DRC. The troop-contributing countries are Burundi, South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda. Following the deployment of EACRF, M23 handed over some of its territories to EACRF.
However, the DRC government said the M23 rebels later reclaimed some areas they previously controlled. Kulayigye said UPDF soldiers returned fire as soon as they came under attack by the rebels.
