It has been reported that many Soldiers feared dead following a deadly attack by Al-Shabaab rebels on a Somalia national army base in the country’s South-Central province.

The deadly raid happened in a lately liberated small town of Nur Dugle where Somali government forces and its allied clan militias are residing. The deadly Al-Shabaab attack started with a car bomb explosion and then a deadly gun fight between Al-Shabaab terrorists and the peace Keepers emerged.Somali Defence Ministry revealed that the country’s national army (SNA) and local forces successfully repulsed the attack.

“We swiftly staged a robust defense at Nur Dugle in Middle Shabelle, neutralizing the threat. Our troops inflicted heavy casualties on the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab terrorists), ensuring the area remains secure,” the Ministry said in a short statement posted on X after the attack.

It should be recalled that a few months back, the Al-Shabaab rebels attacked a Ugandan military base in Somalia and killed 54 UPDF Soldiers, President Museveni confirmed.
