On Tuesday night, the DAS warehouse at Entebbe Airport caught fire. The fire broke out yesterday at a distribution center oversaw by ground handling services, DAS.It has been reported that the fire affected the whole warehouse.

The incident was confirmed by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

In a statement released shortly after midnight, UCAA stated, “An incident involving a fire outbreak occurred at the DAS Warehouse located in the vicinity of Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.”

According to the authority, “A joint team of fire-fighting services is engaged to stop the blazing fire” and “The exact cause of the fire will be investigated.”UCAA further said DAS “is one of the Ground Controllers working at the airport with offices contiguous to Protea hotel,”However, the incident necessitates the expansion of the international airport’s fire and emergency services.

In 2021, fire broke out in the air ports fuel tanks region, igniting alarm among voyagers and airport workers.It was stated at the time that employees at the Aviation fuel company were performing routine maintenance on fuel tank 4 to drain out the remaining fuel using a diesel-powered pump.

However, the drainage tube disengaged from the pump, resulting in fuel spillage and the outbreak of the fire.
