Turning My Failing Business Around: My Personal Journey Through Losses
My name is Robert, and I live in Masindi, Uganda. I’ve always been a hardworking man. Since my early twenties, I’ve tried different business ventures. I started with a small electronics shop, selling radios, phone accessories, and solar lamps. Over time, I added mobile money services and even a few used phones. At first, business was going well. I could pay rent, feed my family, and keep the shop running. But eventually, things began to change.
It started slowly. Sales declined. Customers stopped coming. Stock went missing, and I noticed that I was spending more than I earned. I tried promotions, offering discounts, and even borrowed money to keep the business alive. But month after month, I was facing losses. Sometimes, I would finish the month with less than 30,000 shillings in profit. I had debts with suppliers and landlords. Friends I had helped in the past no longer picked up my calls.
