As the 2026 general elections draws nearer, tensions in the National Unity Platform (NUP) seem to worsen. Now MP Hon Abed Bwanika has blasted his boss, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine.

This followed remarks made by Bobi Wine during his recent performance in London. Through the lyrics of one of his songs, he referred to some of his MPs as dogs. And among these was the Kamanya- Kibonera MP, Hon Abed Bwanika.

Bwanika who has now for several months shown his disappointment in his superior didn’t back down.He quickly took to his X page and tore through his boss. The former presidential candidate said that the new wave of politics is built on the foundation of singing, dancing, and insults.

It also entails traveling business class every week, buying houses on every continent, amassing evil wealth plus promoting homosexuality. He wondered if this was the strategy of removing the dictator.

“New politics sing, dance, insult, travel every week and business class, buy houses on every continent. Amass evil wealth, join and promote homos and THAT IS REMOVING THE DICTATOR,” he tweeted.

There is no doubt about these disagreements which are wearing the young party down. This happens at a crucial time when they should be preparing for the huge task ahead of unseating the NRM and President Museveni.

Apparently, these disagreements were escalated after Hon Mathias Mpuuga’s apparently took 500m shillings from parliament as a service award. This was given to him as leader of the opposition in parliament by Anita Among. The NUP considered this a bribe that the party doesn’t agree with.

In conclusion, the National Unity Platform (NUP) is facing an internal crisis, with MP Abed Bwanika publicly criticizing party leader Bobi Wine’s tactics and values. Bwanika’s scathing attack highlights the party’s internal divisions and raises questions about its ability to unite against the ruling NRM and President Museveni.

As the 2026 general elections approach, NUP’s infighting threatens to undermine its chances of success. The party must address its internal conflicts and present a united front if it hopes to achieve its goal of removing the dictator and bringing change to Uganda.
