“I Will Not Support Bobi Wine In The 2026 General Elections Neither Will I Stand For Presidency” Besigye Shockingly Reveals Why

Dr. Kizza Besigye has indicated that his backing of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Alias Bobi Wine  as the primary contender against President Yoweri Museveni in 2026  hinges on the strategies employed.

The former FDC President asserts that he cannot throw his support behind Bobi Wine if his objective is solely to defeat Museveni through an electoral process.

“If Hon Kyagulanyi is leading us tomorrow to a confrontation, I will stand by him. But if he is leading us to Byabakama (Electoral Commission Chairman), that is where I have reservations,” he commented.

Besigye, who contested against Museveni in four elections, maintains that it’s impractical to oust the 79-year-old leader through polls.

“Which president have we had here that was ousted through an election?” Besigye questioned during a political discourse.

“Some individuals believe that those of us who have been opposing the government are weakening while the government itself is strengthening, but that’s not the reality. Museveni acknowledges that our efforts and pressures have undermined him.” He Added.

Bobi Wine declared earlier this year his intention to challenge Museveni in the forthcoming 2026 race.

“We will persist in challenging General Museveni through every legitimate and constitutional means available. By 2026, if we haven’t ousted him from power, we will challenge him to a transparent and fair election,” He Affirmed.

Kyagulanyi explained that his music allowed him to connect with people and played a crucial role in his decision to enter politics. He reiterated his determination to bring about change in Uganda and expressed his unwavering commitment to challenging Museveni’s 38-year-long rule.

“My music opened my eyes and those of the masses, especially the youth, leading me into trouble. But it was good trouble. Music has always been my platform to communicate,” he stated.

Despite recognizing the hazards associated with challenging an entrenched incumbent, Kyagulanyi reiterated his steadfastness in his mission. He expressed his commitment to contesting Museveni’s regime through moral and constitutional channels and aims to garner international attention and support to assist the Ugandan people in asserting their democratic rights.
